Participants could purchase a 530 Grower pre-roll, Perfect Union’s in-store flower cultivation, for one penny
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Perfect Union, one of California’s oldest and most-respected cannabis retail operators, hosted a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on August 12 at their Northside Sacramento dispensary (1508 El Camino Ave.) with 16 participants.
Nationally, the majority of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations are among the unvaccinated, even though inoculations are effective at preventing infection and fighting against the Delta variant. Sacramento County is also reporting the highest number of COVID-19 hospitalizations since January.
“Protecting the health and safety of our staff, guests and communities is paramount,” said Perfect Union CEO David Spradlin. “We take our health care worker designation seriously and want to do our part to put COVID-19 in the rearview mirror.”
Further compounding the vaccination rate is new research from the University of California, Davis, that found many have become desensitized to the virus and are no longer as concerned about following public health guidelines.
“I applaud Perfect Union’s leadership for creating a convenient and accessible vaccination site,” said Sacramento Councilmember Sean Loloee. “Ending this pandemic requires the community to work together, and vaccination remains our defense for defeating this pandemic.”
Those who received vaccinations received a pre-roll for one penny from 530 Grower, Perfect Union’s in-house flower brand that also helps fund the company’s Community Fund.
“Pre-2020, it was common for our dispensaries to welcome more than two thousand guests a day, many with preexisting conditions that make their health and wellness more vulnerable,” said Spradlin. “The demand for quality cannabis products, and our retail footprint, has only increased since the pandemic started. Many of our guests view cannabis as vital as their prescription medications, so it was critical to act quickly and boldly. That’s why we led the industry in early adoption of public health guidelines, offered curbside pickup, provided hazard pay for hourly employees and called for the vaccine prioritization of essential cannabis workers.”
Perfect Union has over a decade of experience managing profitable cannabis businesses; navigating state and local laws and regulations; and adding value to the communities where they operate. The company has a proven track record of building engagement, social welfare and outreach programs that focus on local partnerships, monetary investments and in-store donation campaigns.
