Trying to Find the Perfect Bud? Start Writing a Cannabis Journal

Ever go to a dispensary near you and try a strain that’s new to you? You end up loving everything about it. You finish the jar that day and then in a fuzzed-out haze, immediately forget what it was called.

The good news is: most shops keep track of what you buy. Always ask your budtender as the first line of recall. They should be able to tell you a little bit about your history of purchases at that store.

But what if you bought a lot of strains that day and only really loved the one?

Or what if you bought it out of town? You may not be able to get back to the dispensary to review your previous purchases.

You could find yourself in the unenviable position of mumbling to your budtender “It was purple something, I’m sure of it!”

This can happen to any of us, but there’s an easy way to avoid it. Start keeping a cannabis journal.

The method is pretty simple. Buy a journal. Any journal will do although there are specific journals for cannabis logging now available at bookstores and online. You can even open a note in your phone to keep track.

Not only is a weed diary great for specifying and remembering what you like, but it’s also great for what you don’t like. You’ll never have to experience that bummer strain or dud dab again!

Journals are also great for being detailed about your use. How often you’re consuming, what kind of strains you prefer in the morning, afternoon, or evening, as well as how much you needed to get you where you wanted to go.

    How Should I Track?

This lies in your personal preferences but for me, these ways have been effective.

    Product/Strain name

This is pretty straightforward and seems intuitive, but it’s so important that I have to mention it. The only way to accurately log what you consume is by having a title for your entry. It should always be the product name.

    Consumption Method

Is it flower? A vape cartridge? Stiiizy pod? Dabable? Edible? Be sure to specify what the product is so that you don’t ask your local budtender for a Rainbow Sherbet and he comes back with pot-flavored Ice Cream (although that sounds delicious).

    Rating

I use a star rating like I would use if I was rating a movie or professional wrestling match. 5 stars are elite, 4 stars are very good, 3 stars are good, 2 stars are fair, and 1 star isn’t worth your time or another look.

You can get creative here and use 1/2 stars as well if you want. Live a little.

    Strain Type/Brand

Is it an indica, hybrid, or sativa?  If it’s a hybrid, does it lean one way or another? What is the terpene profile?  These details are super beneficial to see patterns about what kinds of flower/vapes/edibles seem to work the best or worst for your particular endocannabinoid system. Everybody is different.

Be sure to write the brand down. Not all brands are created equal and oftentimes some brands even have different lineage genetics for popular common strains.

    Taste/Aroma

A very underrated part of enjoying cannabis in all of its forms is the taste and aroma. Is it sweet or gassy? Skunky or fruity? These details can help create a more complete profile of what it is that you’re into.

    Notes/Other Details

This is where you’ll muse on anything else you found notable about the product. How long did it take to kick in? How long did the effects last? What time of the day did you consume? The more detailed the better.

Using these steps to start creating your cannabis journal, you might find that not only does it help you keep track of what you’re consuming, but it’s also a lot of fun.

  • New HUGS Line of Premium Cannabis Launches with Three Pride Strains
New HUGS Line of Premium Cannabis Launches with Three Pride Strains

New HUGS Line of Premium Cannabis Launches With Three PRIDE Strains

There’s a brand new line of cannabis launching in dozens of dispensaries throughout California under the HUGS brand. The initial drop is a line of three strains to celebrate PRIDE month with $1 per jar sold in June going to the Sacramento LGBT Community Center.

The strains promise to be top-quality at a reasonable price and will not only pop up at your local Perfect Union dispensaries near you but also in several other dispensaries throughout the state of California. The strains also have amazing PRIDE-specific names. More on that in a minute.

From what I’m hearing this initial PRIDE-inspired launch isn’t all the HUGS brand has in store. They are planning a full line of cannabis flower, prerolls, vape carts, and dabable wax, resin, and crumble that should hit stores by the middle of the summer. Exciting stuff.

But for now, let’s stick to what we have all the information on. The PRIDE strains, and do they look fun.

    Banana Envy (Indica)

Banana Envy has a large chunky structure and is a beautiful bright green flower that’s heavily dusted with resin glands. The draw is very smooth with a strong lung expansion.

On the pallet, the sweet banana taste is predominant and coupled with the familiar aroma of most Jealousy strains.

    Rainbow Sherbet (Hybrid)

Rainbow Sherbet is a compact, colorful flower bursting with trichomes and orange pistils. On the inhale, it has a smooth intake with a moderate lung expansion.

The flavor profile possesses a sweet taste up front with a playful amount of fruit. This selection is a 50/50 balance of sativa and indica, making it great for any time of the day or night.

Same Sex Wedding Cake (Indica-leaning Hybrid)

One of my favorite strains of all-time, Wedding Cake, gets a fun, PRIDE-themes reboot as Same Sex Wedding Cake! This Wedding Cake phenotype has excellent size and dense structure with plenty of dark shades of purple highlighted with magenta.

The draw is smooth and clean and has a limited lung expansion.

This Cake variety has a traditionally sweet taste with an aroma that is reminiscent of a bakery full of pastries.

These HUGS branded strains are expected to be on shelves by June 1, just in time for PRIDE month.

  • The Smokin’ Mix Highlights and Product Pairings
The Smokin’ Mix Highlights and Product Pairings

The Smokin’ Mix HIGHlights and Product Pairings

In the Perfect Union May Hot Box, we included our Spotify playlist that was curated by yours truly. It has what I think to be the pinnacle of cannabis songs by a wide range of diverse artists and genres.

There are a few tracks in particular that I think go well when paired with particular products, so I thought I’d share some of those HIGHlights with you so that you can follow the playlist and then stop by a dispensary near you and GET ON MY LEVEL.

So without further adieu, let’s go!

Track 1 – Sweet Leaf – Black Sabbath

Pair with: Wedding Cake from Zach & Ted’s

One of the all-time tracks from an all-time band. “Sweet Leaf” opens with that classic riff before Ozzy comes in with his signature pipes. You know you need to rip a classic sweet strain and to be honest, nothing is better for that than “Wedding Cake.”

    Track #8 – Because I Got High – Afroman

Pair with: Banana Cookies Live Resin from Raw Garden

Just a ridiculously fun song that I think we can all relate to. I can imagine Afroman taking a huge dab of Banana Cookies, forgetting all of his responsibilities for the day, and then writing this song.

Track #15 – The Joker – Steve Miller Band

Pair with: Northern Lights #5 Vape Cart from Jetty Extracts

This song is old school late 70s rock and roll. Steve Miller famously muses “I’m a midnight toker” in it and I like to think that when you’re rocking this in 2022, there’s no better homage than a vape hit of the classic Northern Lights #5 strain. It just makes sense.

Track #22 – You Don’t Know How it Feels – Tom Petty

Pair with: Shake That Sativa Preroll

When Petty sings, “Let’s get to the point, let’s roll another joint…” it’s only because he didn’t have a preroll. Save yourself some trouble and enjoy a Shake That Sativa or two while you listen.

Track #25 – Sitting in Limbo – Willie Nelson

Pair with: Camino Watermelon Lemonade 5mg Gummies

Willie writes a gorgeous tune about waiting. When I wait, I like to at least enjoy a nice easy high. That’s what you’ll get with the hybrid Watermelon Lemonade Gummies from Camino. At 5mg, it’s just enough to get you to whatever you happen to be waiting for.

Track #29 – Muggles – Louis Armstrong & His Hot Seven

Pair with: LIME Animal Mints Water Hash

One of the old classic jazz odes to cannabis. When you do a deep dive down the jazz rabbit hole, you need something strong and smooth. Hash just gets me to that place. Listen to “Muggles” on a good hash, and then dip into some of Louis Armstrong’s catalog of amazing music. Thank me later.

  • Vape Pen Roundup – The Best Batteries and Carts Around Right Now
Vape Pen Roundup – The Best Batteries and Carts Around Right Now

Vape Pen Roundup – The Best Batteries and Carts Around Right Now

Vaping cannabis has become many pot enthusiasts’ preferred way to consume THC (or CBD for that matter). Whether it be the convenience of use, ease of storage, or the ability to consume more discreetly, vape pens are all the rage.

The market is full of legacy brands and upstarts alike, and I’ve made it my goal to give you my three favorite batteries and three favorite vape cartridge brands right now at this very moment. It could change tomorrow, but as I sit and type this right now, this is it.

I’ve also done you a solid and linked to where you can buy them at a dispensary near you. Thank me later.

    Batteries

    STIIIZY

I talked about STIIIZY a bunch recently. You can read all about that here. There are a few things to know right out of the gate: STIIIZY batteries (whether you get the standard size or the larger BIIIG) only work with STIIIZY pods. No other cartridge or pod will work. Just STIIIZY. Ok, now that’s out of the way. The advantage of the STIIIZY battery is how slick it looks and how smooth the draw is. There isn’t a voltage adjustment module so you have to get what you get, and what you get is just about perfect every time.

    Himalaya

This is a simple button-controlled 510-thread battery, but make no mistake, these things are rock-solid. I’ve owned so many 510 thread batteries over the years, and none of them ever last through as many vape sessions as the standard Himalaya battery. This thing has a voltage setting (3.0 to 3.2) that allows you to vape their standard or live resin carts at just the right temperature. They also come in a bunch of cool colors and are inexpensive enough to buy them in a few different shades depending on your mood.

    Select – Gravity Battery

Another simple button-controlled battery, but the difference is Select’s charge time. This thing lasts a while and when you’re sticking your pen in your pocket and vaping on the go, long battery life is just about the most important thing. Available in black or white, these pens are durable with a classic design. They just work, and sometimes that’s all you want or need, right?

    Carts/Pods

    Jetty Extracts

What I’ve been loving about the line of vape cartridges from Jetty Extracts is how they really lean into classic legacy strains. Very few other brands are offering up Blue Dream, Granddaddy Purps, Pineapple Express, and Northern Lights #5 at the same time. The taste is incredible and the packaging is unique and pleasing to the eye. Jetty has it going on.

    STIIIZY Pods

I’m like a broken record here, but TOOT TOOT! I’m on the Stiiizy train! The pod system delivers such a smooth hit and it provides just about the easiest system of switching out your pods. They have live resin, CDT (cannabis-derived terpenes), and an original pod line that focuses on legacy strains. For me, I love their 1:1 THC to CBD options. My favorite is the disposable LIIIL Juicy Melon. The perfect mix of the two major cannabinoids leaves you with the best of both worlds in one (or two or three) amazing hits.

    Friendly Farms

Using their proprietary Tru Spectrum extraction process, Friendly Farms gives you a true full-spectrum cured resin experience. The carts taste amazing with the familiar flower taste you get from smoking cannabis. They have a large line of different strains, but my personal favorite is the heavy indica Biscotti strain in 1 gram. So. Dang. Good.

With so many vape batteries and carts out there, it’s hard to choose just three of each, but I hope this is a good start for y’all to go out and try something new or revisit something!

  • Top 5 Stoner Movies & What to Smoke While You Watch
Top 5 Stoner Movies & What to Smoke While You Watch

Top 5 Stoner Movies & What to Smoke While You Watch

If you’re like me, there’s nothing better than getting off work, heading to a dispensary near me, picking up a pack of prerolls, and heading home to spark it up while I watch a movie with characters that are as high as I am.

Since the dawn of the cinematic era, filmmakers have been preoccupied with cannabis. From stoned characters to entire movies dedicated to the hijinx of the stoner lifestyle, there have been hundreds of flicks that have either referenced or were out-and-out tributes to the amazing flower, cannabis sativa.

I’ve done my due diligence in this area over the years and have made it a mission to share with you, the reading public, a list of my top 5 favorite stoner movies of all time.

Feel free to agree or disagree with the list or the order, but if nothing else, if you haven’t seen one of these movies, go stream them now!

    #5 – Friday (1995)

Ice Cube and Chris Tucker are the ultimate pair of stoner friends in this 90’s comedy classic. If you’ve ever spent a Friday morning with your best bud and had no plans only to find yourself on the craziest adventure ever by about noon, you’re gonna find a lot of hilarious relatable content in this one.

Pair with: Cherry Dolato 3.5 grams from 530 Grower. Friday is all about chilling out, so why not enjoy this awesome indica strain while you do the same.

    #4 – Half Baked (1998)

Dave Chapelle is in his first starring role and it doesn’t disappoint. Another movie about lifelong stoner friends with a singular mission of getting high when one wrong turn makes their mission a much larger one…to the tune of needing 1 million dollars FAST. This one was originally panned by critics (like most stoner comedies) but has since gone on to cult classic status.

Pair with: Ice Cream Cake 3.5 grams from Zach & Ted’s. This sweet indica strain is the closest thing you’ll get to Mr. Nice Guy around these parts.

    #3 – Smiley Face (2007)

Have you ever eaten a delicious brownie that you didn’t know was baked with cannabis? Ever eat a bunch of them? Ever lose an entire day because of that? I have. Anna Farris has a familiar experience in this weed-infused comedy about a day gone hysterically wrong in all the right ways. Keep an eye out for a cameo from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk as well.

Pair with: Bhang – Milk Chocolate Bar. Keeping with the theme of the movie, share the experience with Anna Farris by enjoying a delicious Bhang – Milk Chocolate Bar. But maybe only have one square to start.

    #2 – Up in Smoke (1978)

There’s just something about buddies smoking pot isn’t there? In this all-time classic, Cheech ventures out of the house and inexplicably ends up giving a ride to the hitchhiking Chong who then shares a joint with him. This takes them on an adventure that finds them in court, jail, Mexico, and ultimately performing a rock show. You just have to see it for yourself.

Pair with: Lowell’s Smokes – 6 pack – The Social Sativa. Lowell’s prerolls are renowned as a modern classic which is why they are the perfect pairing with this quintessential cult classic.

    #1 – Pineapple Express (2008)

Whether the strain was named after the movie or the movie was named after the strain, Pineapple Express is not only one of the most laugh-out-loud stoner comedies in recent memory, but it’s one of the funniest movies of the past 20 years in general. Seth Rogen and James Franco team up for a classic stoner-caper that starts with a simple transaction and ends with them being a part of a much bigger and much more serious crime operation. Easily one of my most-watched movies of all time.

Pair with: Jetty Extracts – Pineapple Express Vape Cartridge. C’mon! You knew what strain we were going to pair this with. These super potent Jetty carts are the perfect partner to any great movie, but when you put the Pineapple Express cart with Pineapple Express film. Chef’s kiss.

Honorable mentions: The Big Lebowski, Still Smokin’, Super High Me, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Super Troopers

  • Best 5 Cannabis Strains and Gifts for Mom
Best 5 Cannabis Strains and Gifts for Mom

Best 5 Cannabis Strains and Gifts for Mom

Mother’s Day will be here before you know it, and an increasingly popular gift for mom is cannabis. Whether your mom wants to have a little fun on the weekend after a long week, or she feels like it helps her sleep, weed could be the gift she’s looking for this year.

Whether she likes to smoke sativa, indica, or hybrid, I’ve compiled my top 5 strains for mom for Mother’s Day (or any day). If mom’s not a smoker–keep reading, I have non inhalable cannabis gift ideas for mom too!

    Blue Dream

Blue Dream is one of the most popular sativa-dominant hybrid strains for a reason. It never disappoints. A cross of Blueberry and Haze, this legacy strain has a sweet taste and smell similar to blueberries. Famous for its daytime use, this is a great strain for moms that want to consume during the daytime hours.

    Durban Poison

One of the all-time greats, Durban Poison is a sativa strain that was originally grown in South Africa. With creamy vanilla undertones and a hint of fruit, DP is one of the tastiest strains out there. Being nearly a 100% sativa strain, this one is a must for the mom on the go.

    Granddaddy Purple

“The Purps” is on the other end of the spectrum from the other strains mentioned. A heavy indica noted for its beautiful purple hairs and resinous flowers, it’s truly a gorgeous plant. A cross between Big Bud and Purple Urkel, GDP packs a strong punch and tastes like grape hard candy. Some people find this one to be more of a nighttime strain, but if you’re asking me, I bet mom could get some use out of it any time.

    Runtz

One of the most popular “newer” strains, Runtz is a mix of Gelato 33 and Zkittles and has an eerily similar taste to the candy its name is inspired by. A hybrid strain, Runtz might be perfect for your mom right before she meets up with friends for brunch.

    Maui Wowie

We all remember watching Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton sit around their coffee table in “9 to 5” smoking on a doobie, laughing it up when Jane Fonda’s character asks Lily Tomlin “What is this called again?

Maui Wowie was the answer. It could also be the answer to what you gift your mom this Mother’s Day! A sativa strain that is known to give you the giggles, this legendary strong is perfect for backyard chilling while you await a delicious meal.

What if Mom Doesn’t Like to Smoke?

Mom’s aren’t always into smoking. I get that, sometimes I’m not either. The good news for you (and for her) is, there are SO many other ways to consume cannabis.

I’ve put together some top picks for mom that aren’t of the smokable persuasion.

    Edibles

    GG4 Chews by Lost Farms

These 10mg chews are such a delicious treat. Made from live resin, Lost Farms offers a full-spectrum experience that is always strain-specific. The GG4 are an indica-dominant hybrid that are popular amongst nighttime consumers but offer just enough sativa to be great any time of the day.

    Prerolls

    Shake That

These prerolls are made from full-flower and are available in indica, sativa, or hybrid. They are also super budget-friendly. So why buy mom one preroll when you can get her 2 (or 3 or 4)?

    Vape Cartridge / Batteries

    DIME

Dime vape cartridges and batteries are my new obsession. These things are sturdy! With several strains to choose from in indica, sativa, or hybrid, DIME offers what feels like a luxury vaping experience for a very reasonable price. If mom wants to enjoy, while keeping things fairly inconspicuous, these are the way to go.

    Accessories

If you’re unsure of what to get, going down the accessory rabbit hole is a must. Lighters, grinders, pipes, bongs, papers, and rolling trays are all readily available at a dispensary near you!

Please remember that these are only some of what is nearly an unlimited amount of choices for mom. But I think with this shortlist, you can’t go wrong.

  • What the Heck is a STIIIZY?
What the Heck is a STIIIZY?

What the Heck is a Stiiizy?

If you’ve hung around your group of cannabis-loving friends, you’ve probably heard someone mention their “Stiiizy stick” or “Stiiizy pen.” This term may have left you curious. “What the heck is a stiiizy?”

You’re not alone. In fact, not too long ago I found myself in a similar predicament. A good friend of mine kept mentioning their Stiiizy stick and after several minutes of nodding in ignorant agreement, I finally said “Hey man, what is a stiiizy stick?” His eyes lit up. He then excitedly told me that his “Stiiizy stick” is actually a vape pen (battery and pod combo) that he claimed delivered the cleanest, fullest hit of any THC vape he’s ever owned. I asked him if I can get the battery and attach a traditional 510 thread cartridge to it. He then explained that stiiizy has a proprietary pod system that only works with the Stiiizy battery.

This was a good start, but I wanted to learn more, I went to a Perfect Union recreational dispensary near me and picked one up. Holy cow! He wasn’t kidding. A truly unique experience. Since then, I’ve tried a bunch of different pods and have even purchased a couple of different Stiiizy batteries. Since I’m a bit of an expert now, here’s what I’ve learned so that you can become a Stiiizy expert as well.

    The Batteries

These are straightforward enough. You take it out of the packaging, attach the pod to the device (it will seem like it’s fitting loose, but it’s actually in there very securely) and inhale. There isn’t a button to press as the coil is heated by you drawing in. There isn’t a temperature control which is a drawback for some, but I personally don’t mind. It always seems like it’s at the correct setting so it’s pretty idiot-proof.

They sell a standard battery or a BIIIG battery which has a little more power and a much longer charge. It’s worth investing in, if you are a frequent user as it involves much more time for vaping and way less time for charging.

There is also a disposable version called the LIIIL that has over 20 strains available. These are perfect for puffing your Stiiizy on the go.

    The Pods

    The Original Line

These are THC oil pods with “botanically derived terpenes”. The BDT’s add flavor and aroma to the experience and all the strains are classics like “Blue Dream”, “Granddaddy Purps”, and “Strawberry Cough”.

The Silver Line (Cannabis Derived Terpenes)

The Silver Line or CDT stiiizy pods provide more of a natural terpene profile and are very popular with cannabis consumers that enjoy vaping with a more flower-like taste and smell. There are over 20 different strains to choose from so there’s gonna be something for everybody here.

The Live Resin Line (Gold Line)

Live resin is produced by flash freezing the whole cannabis plant in a small batch. It creates a full-spectrum effect that utilizes all of the cannabinoids in a synergistic fashion as well as preserving the original plant’s flavor profile. I’m no scientist but I know this, it tastes and smells great and works amazingly effectively.

Hopefully you’re now well on your way to being a stiiizy expert too!

Be sure to pick a battery and/or pod up at your local Perfect Union or Wild Seed Wellness location.

  • Getting to Know Lesser Known Extracts
Getting to Know Lesser Known Extracts

    Flan

Flan is a powerful, solvent-less extract that starts with live hash rosin, which is then refined and transformed into an ultra-high potency concentrate. It is made using advanced mechanical separation techniques (AMST) and held to the highest purification standards for potency, flavor, color, consistency, and overall effect. Flan is named after the Spanish custard dessert flan de leche, due to its rich flavor and soft texture.

    Budder/Badder

Budder, also called badder, is a smooth and creamy cannabis extract. Most times solvent (such as butane or propane) is used to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant matter, but it can also be done, although more seldomly, without solvent. Badder is one of the easiest concentrates to dab because it’s smooth and malleable, but is not too runny like wax.

    Live Rosin

Live rosin is extracted from plant matter using a combination of heat and pressure. Because it’s extracted from fresh or frozen cannabis without any additional cleaning, rosin retains a rich cannabinoid and terpene profile and boasts of high THC and yield percentages. This potent full-melt hash oil is non-solvent, which makes it safer to produce and consume than other concentrates.

    Honey Crystal

Honey Crystal has all of the naturally occurring fats, waxes, and other botanical impurities removed. As a result, you’re left with a clean, delicious product that’s higher in potency than ever before. In short: it’s crystal clear.

  • Cannabis Taxes Got You Down? Maybe it’s Time to Invest in an MMIC Card!
Cannabis Taxes Got You Down? Maybe it’s Time to Invest in an MMIC Card!

    What’s an MMIC Card?

In 1996, California changed history with its passage of Proposition 215 which legalized cannabis for medicinal purposes. This launched the Medical Marijuana Identification Card (MMIC) program to identify cardholders who could lawfully have possession of cannabis. An MMIC differs from a standard doctor’s recommendation because it registers you in a state-wide database. These methods are meant to speed up the verification process while also maintaining a high level of privacy. MMICs need to abide by HIPPA rules just like any other doctor or hospital would.

Nowadays, you’d assume with the passing of California Prop 64, which legalized adult-use cannabis for recreational use, there’s no need to possess an MMIC. However, it does come with some hidden benefits that can come in handy when you want to save a little tax money.

    Let’s explain further:

With an MMIC, you’ll receive all the benefits of someone that has their doctor’s recommendation (higher possession limits, purchase limits, lower age restrictions, access to medical-only cannabis dispensaries, etc.), but you’ll also be able to save some cash due to lower or even eliminated taxes in certain cases.

There are three types of California cannabis taxes. Two of these can’t be avoided regardless of whether you have an MMIC or a basic doctor’s recommendation.

Excise Tax: This state tax is associated with the wholesale price, and is the lion’s share of the taxes you’ll be paying on cannabis. It cannot be avoided. Even discounted or sales-priced items don’t reduce this tax.

Local Tax: Nearly every California city and county taxes licensed retailers operating within their borders. Local tax rates range from zero to as much as 15% in some cases, but on average it’s about 5-7% depending on your city or county. This tax is calculated from the combined total of the retail price and excise tax. This tax again, cannot be avoided.

Sales and Use Tax: This is where your MMIC savings kick in. This is also a state tax, “sales and use” rates range from 7.25% to as much as 10% due to some cities and counties having a “district tax” included under this taxing umbrella. Sales and Use Tax is usually the 2nd highest tax rate you’ll pay for cannabis in California due to the fact that it’s calculated on the retail price + excise tax + local tax. With an MMIC card, YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY THIS TAX!

Why isn’t my doctor’s recommendation good enough to save on Sales and Use Taxes?

Because it’s not registered with the state of California, which collects sales and use taxes.

OK, How Do I Get One?

You have to have your medical doctor’s recommendation first. Then, register with your local county public health department. Most counties charge a fee of $100 annually.

You can locate you county’s local public health department’s MMIC program here

If you’re concerned about what information the state keeps on file, it’s nearly nothing. In fact, they don’t even keep your name.

Per, the California Department of Public Health, “The Medical Marijuana Application System does not contain any personal information such as name, address, or social security number. It only contains the unique user ID number and when entered the only information provided is whether the card is valid or invalid.”

For us stoners, 4/20 isn’t just a random day in April. It’s Christmas. It’s the day that we know we can get good weed for a good price and spend the entire day enjoying it. Whether it’s at a party with friends, or just unwinding by yourself, this is OUR Holiday.

This year to celebrate 04/20/22, our stores are offering 30% off products from over 23 brands for the highest of holy days. So being the good friends that we are, we have put together a shortlist of the items that you just shouldn’t miss. Whether it’s a gift for a friend or yourself, this is the stuff that should be on your radar.

    Edibles:

    Big Pete’s Cookies

Straight outta Santa Cruz since 1979, this family-owned and operated business produces some of the best-tasting cannabis edibles around. Using cannabutter as their weed source, Big Pete’s has a variety of flavors to choose from. Whether you’re a chocolate chip fan or peanut butter is more of your thing, Big Pete’s has it. The packages are 10 cookies at 10mg each come in at a price point of $20+ tax.

Johnny’s pick: Try the Birthday Cake. It tastes just like Birthday Cake!

    Lost Farms Gummies and Chews

Lost Farms gummies and chews from Kiva aren’t just delicious, they pack a punch! Plant-based and infused with live resin, these 10mg edibles are rapidly becoming a favorite of cannabis connoisseurs (or cannasseurs) that love to consume from eating their weed.

Johnny’s pick: The raspberry-flavored Wedding Cake gummies are possibly my favorite edible at the moment. So good.

    Wyld Gummies

Some of the most popular gummies in the state, Wyld not only has indica, hybrid, or sativa options, they have different ratios of CBD and CBG in their product mix as well. With Wyld, there’s something for everybody!

Johnny’s pick: The pear-flavored 1:1 THC/CBG gummies are just the right balance for me. Give ’em a try!

    Flower:

    530 Grower

One of Perfect Union’s house brands, 530 Grower is kicking out a killer combination of taste, aroma, and potency. With over 20 different strains to choose from, 530 Grower continues to stay on the cutting edge of popular cross-genetics with Gelato X Wedding Cake and ZKittles X Animal Mints as stand-outs.

Johnny’s pick: Wedding Cake 3.5 grams. It’s one of the most popular strains on the planet for a reason and 530 Grower’s version is one of the best I’ve ever had.

    Fig Farms

Farmer owner and Oakland grown, Fig Farms is one of the most exciting flower brands out right now. Focusing on the top-shelf cannabis consumer with potent strains like the indica-dominant “Holy Moly!” and the powerful sativa-leaning hybrid “Dark Karma”, Fig Farms keeps pushing the envelope on how elite Northern California weed can be.

Johnny’s pick: Lucid Blue 3.5 grams. Heavy indica with gorgeous blue hairs and bursting with trichomes. Tasty and aromatic, it’s become one of my favorite strains from one of my favorite growers.

    UpNorth

Indoor grown in the heart of the cannabis capital of California, Humboldt County, UpNorth continues to provide top-shelf cannabis to the weed lovers of the region. With an incredible array of strains, this brand has made quite the impression in recent years.

Johnny’s pick: Runtz. One of the most talked-about strains these days, this one from UpNorth hits different. Lush buds, with a sweet smell and inhale, this has quickly become a go-to of mine.

Johnny’s picks for prerolls and vape carts:

Prerolls: I love Fuzzies by Sublime. Whether you’re into live resin-infused and rolled-in kief or hash-injected, Fuzzies always have something for everyone. My personal favorite is the king-sized “Wedding Cake” but when I’m feeling more of a sativa vibe I’ll go for the “Blue Dream”.

Vape Carts: For me, I’m all about Jetty right now. They have a huge variety of strains and are really a must-have for fans of old-school strains like Trainwreck, GDP, and Maui Wowie.

However, you (or your friends) consumer, Perfect Union has something for everyone this 4/20. Welcome to Your Happy Place.
